A case involving alleged crimes by a senior official in south China will be transferred to judicial organs, the Communist Party of China's (CPC) discipline watchdog said Friday.

Zhou Zhenhong, former member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the provincial committee, has been stripped of his CPC membership and official posts, according to a decision from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the CPC.

A CCDI investigation found that Zhou took advantage of his official position to obtain benefits for other people, as well as took bribes.

Zhou was found to have received large quantities of cash and expensive gifts, as well as was responsible for a series of serious corruption cases that occurred in the city of Maoming.

Zhou's illegally-obtained property will be confiscated, the CCDI said.
