Speaking of veteran performers on the gala stage, another name is not to be neglected. Taiwan magician Liu Qian has charmed his way to the country's biggest stage three times.
The jaw-dropping debut show on the gala stage in 2009 proved a smash hit, and went on to be a sensation across the country.
Taiwan magician Liu Qian is famous for his close-range magic show, and after 3 gigs at CCTV's Spring Festival Gala, he has become the most sought-after magician in China. But Liu says he's still nervous, ahead of his upcoming appearance.
He said, "This is my first rehearsal on the gala stage this year. I feel very excited but a little bit nervous. I will bring a brand new show, which I've never performed anywhere else."
When asked for more details on the new show, the magician did not want to give anything away.
He said, "I don't want to spoil the surprise. The rehearsal is very important and we will make the best use of it. It's truly a great challenge performing on the gala stage, this year's no exception. We don't want to blow up."
The magician's tricks will remain secret until the big night.
