The website of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) was back online Sunday, a day after the media reported that a hacker left Japanese-language insult to China which remained on the homepage for two months.

The Beijing Evening News reported that the website was still offline Saturday after it was hacked during the height of the recent spat between the two countries over the Diaoyu Islands. The message warns China to keep away.

It reported that although the association repeatedly promised to tighten security following the hacking, the slogan remained on the site.

The Global Times found that the website had moved to basketball.org.cn from its original address cba.gov.cn.

A Japanese language expert said the slogan might not have been written by a native speaker but rather by someone intending to instigate a conflict. "It's probably translated through an online service as the writer misused some characters."
