Snowfall continued in northeastern Jilin province, while temperatures dropped to their lowest since the start of winter. The region also saw 161 percent more precipitation year to year this month. The local meteorological department has sent out a blue traffic alert due to heavy snow and ice.
Beijing was hit by the lowest temperatures in 14 years for this period, with the highest remaining below zero degrees Celsius for four consecutive days. But the cold front is expected to move south.
Qingdao's seaside, in Shandong province, saw ice 20 days earlier than expected, trapping numerous fishing boats. Temperatures, however, will pop back above zero tomorrow.
