Three bodies were recovered while another was still unaccounted for after four fishermen went missing from a Chinese fishing boat anchored in Chile's Magellan strait, embassy sources said Monday.
The Chinese embassy in Santiago told Xinhua that the three dead were identified and it has asked the Chilean authorities to try their best to find the last missing fisherman.
The three were listed as Sun Changman and Yang Cunbao from China's Hunan Province and Wang Hao from Anhui Province, while the missing one was identified by both the Chilean police and boat owner as Yin Xingqi from Guizhou Province, according to the embassy.
The embassy has contacted the Chinese company that owns the boat for further information. It will also assist in the search and rescue mission and the investigation into the cause of the fishermen's missing.
Captain of the boat named "Hongda 2" had reported to the Chilean authorities on Sunday that the four fishermen went missing.
The boat was anchored in waters near Punta Arenas, the southmost city of Chile. There had been 30 fishermen aboard, all of whom were Chinese.
