China's State-owned enterprises perform better than private and multinational companies in corporate social responsibility. That's according to a recent blue paper released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

State-owned companies dominate the higher ratings. China Ocean Shipping Company, State Grid Corporation of China, and China South Grid, take the top three positions. With 100 being the full score, they all peak over 80. China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, China Huaneng group, the country's largest electricity producer, follow closely with scores of 78 and 74.5. Only 2 private companies make an appearance in the ratings, which are Huawei, China's largest telecom company, as well as China Minsheng Banking corporation.

The CSR development, which is released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, evaluates companies based on their management systems and how responsible they are to the public. This year's blue paper evaluated more than 300 State, private and foreign enterprises using metrics such as resistance to bribery, product quality, social security coverage, energy savings and emissions reduction.
