22 students injured in stampede

22 students were injured, six of them seriously, after an earthquake drill at an elementary school in Lingao county in South China's Hainan province.

The incident happened after the school wrapped up the drill and students were rushing into the building's staircases. Five students fainted from lack of oxygen. The crowd then panicked and injured another 17 students in a stampede.

All the students are now in stable condition and many of them have returned to classes. The county government is investigating.
