Xinhua initiates on-site coverage of CPC Congress

The Xinhua News Agency of China on Tuesday began its on-site coverage of the upcoming 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

More than 180 journalists and technical staff have been sent to conduct interviews and release stories over the course of the congress, which will start on Nov. 8.

Xinhua will provide newsfeeds for the event in Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese.

The agency will publish about a dozen special columns, as well as a series of feature stories, during the congress in order to offer authoritative information to news institutions and readers in a timely manner.

In addition to Xinhua's traditional wire service, reports will be issued via the agency's TV news network, the China Xinhua News Network Corporation (CNC), its website Xinhuanet.com and its subsidiary newspapers and magazines.

Xinhua will also provide free photos to both domestic and overseas press at the photo service room of the Media Center hotel in Beijing, as well as offer technical services related to Internet access in cooperation with other domestic news institutions.
