New Chinese visa application process starts in Berlin

A new Chinese visa application process started in Berlin on Monday.

Ordinary passport holders could hand their visa application documents to a service center instead of the embassy.

The Chinese embassy in Germany has faced rapid increasing demand for Chinese visas in recent years, introduction of the service center in Berlin could help provide a better service, said the service center.

"Our embassy will focus more on visa assessment and decision-making. Together with the service center, we will provide a better and efficient service to Germans who wish to visit China for tourist, business, family visit and other purposes," said Chinese ambassador to Germany Shi Mingde.

Another three centers in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich are scheduled to open in the following two weeks.
