A 50-year-old woman surnamed Guan who embezzled 220,000 yuan ($34,988) from her company to care for stray cats and dogs went on trial at Huairou district court on Wednesday, the Legal Mirror reported.
Guan began caring for stray cats and dogs in 2004 and rented a Tongzhou district courtyard where she kept more than 70 of the animals.
