The Japanese government is sending one of its top diplomats, Chikao Kawai, to China for two days, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced Monday. His visit aims to cool bilateral tensions over the Diaoyu Islands.
The Vice Foreign Minister is expected to hold talks Tuesday with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun.
