German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to China from Aug. 30 to 31 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the announcement on Thursday in Beijing.
During her stay, Wen and Merkel will co-chair the second round of Chinese-German intergovernmental consultations.
