On Monday, 38 people stood trial on charges of bank fraud at Xicheng district court, the Beijing evening news reported.
More than 70 different organizations are thought to be involved.
Among the 38 on trial are workers from the Minsheng Banking Corporation, Hua Xia Bank and the Bank of Communications as well as a host of accomplices.
The group is believed to have handled about 500 million yuan over a period of two years.
