A pornographic film appeared on an outdoor digital screen for nearly 20 minutes in a busy part of downtown Pingdingshan, Henan province, on Tuesday evening.
News of the incident, including photos and video, spread like wildfire through microblogs. Some netizens commented that Pingdingshan had become a bold city like in Japan or the US. Others expressed outrage and urged authorities to carry out a thorough investigation to preserve the city's image.
Pingdingshan's public security bureau issued a notice yesterday, saying that a suspect had been brought in and was serving 15 days of detention on suspicion of disseminating obscene material.
