Drug addict death trial

A man who beat his girlfriend to death in November stood trial yesterday, the Legal Mirror reported.

The man, surnamed Chen, said he fought with his girlfriend, surnamed Jia, when he attempted to lecture her to quit using drugs. Chen said he believed she died from an overdose. In court, Jia's mother was restrained by police when she attempted to attack Chen.
