    Public transport fares

2012-05-03 17:37 Global Times     Web Editor: Zang Kejia comment

Shanghai's public bus and subway fares will not rise this year, local authorities said Wednesday.

The guarantee comes amid public concerns that the fares will climb due to rising oil prices.

Six more trains, meanwhile, will be added to the Line 8 subway, where overcrowding has caused major problems for commuters in recent months.

In an effort by authorities to control crowds, the busy line already received three extra trains last month.
