(Ecns.cn)—Payment notes might be pasted on tombstones in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province ,as a reminder to grave sweepers about long delayed payments of management fees, said a report from China News website.

Hanjiaping Cemetery Park, at over 1 million square meters one of the largest public graveyards in the city, now has more than 150,000 tombs but nearly 90% of the families have failed to pay the management fees. Now that Tomb-sweeping Day is around the corner, falling next Wednesday, the park authority figures it's time to collect on the debts.

"We have tried using publicity, but it didn't work," said Ma Xiaohong, vice director of local civil affairs bureau, who says that the management department has had to resort to posting the invoices on the negligent families' tombstones.
