Police probe child’s penis needle injury

Police are investigating allegations that a former kindergarten teacher in Beijing injured a 3-year-old boy on his genitals with a needle.

Linlin (pseudonym), the injured boy, had a judicial appraisal at Shangdi police station in Haidian district yesterday, after a medical report said the injury was caused by a needle puncture.

The teacher, surnamed Wang, who has quit her job, denied the charge. Jiang Tong, the principal of Aixin Kindergarten, Haidian district, said the school will cooperate with police, according to the Beijing Morning Post.

Linlin's father, surnamed Zhuang, told media he found blood and a pinprick on his son's penis on February 14, after his son felt ill.　

"We asked where the injury came from and he said one of the teachers hurt him with a medical needle," Zhuang said, according to the report.

The child's parents called the police the next day. Zhuang told the Global Times officers were taking his statement yesterday afternoon, but he was unwilling to make further comment.

Jiang said she was "meeting with government officials and discussing the matter" yesterday afternoon, but turned down an interview request.　

Wang quit because she was denied a raise, she told media, nothing to do with Linlin. Wang's sister told the Beijing News that Wang would never do such a "sick thing," though she may have threatened naughty children verbally sometimes.

"It's slander if the parents can't provide any proof," she told the paper.

Another teacher, surnamed Wu, said there were no needles at the school.

"We keep all sharp things, including scissors, away from the kids," Wu said.
