(Ecns.cn)--The Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, will issue new administrative measures to ensure that the public receives timely and comprehensive information about the museum in the future, said the museum's new curator Shan Jixiang on Thursday.

Currently the museum is working out the details of the new measures, Shan told the China Youth Daily.

On February 14, Shan attended his first official press conference in Beijing after being inaugurated as the new curator of the museum last month, and promised to increase transparency and credibility at the museum.

"The Palace Museum is like an encyclopedia. Managing it is a new challenge to my ability, knowledge and experience," said Shan, who is the former director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

According to Shan, the area open to the public at the Palace Museum will be increased to 76 percent from the current 45.79 percent, and that new actions will be launched to recover the museum's impaired image after a series of scandals that occurred last year.

In 2011, the museum received more than 14.2 million visitors, twice the amount recorded in 2002.
