(Ecns.cn)— Online group-buying website Meituan.com surprised its users today by announcing it would hold a unique type of lottery.
The grand prize is a person to be taken home as a date for Spring Festival, an increasingly valuable commodity for single people hoping to avoid nagging from their parents.
The website will also cover the travel expenses (no more than US$792) for the date's journey to the winner's hometown.
To attract more users, the site has posted four potential "rewards" – three females and one male – with detailed information, including pictures, blog links and body heights and weights.
Anyone who signs up to the website becomes eligible for the drawing. As of this morning, 32,526 users had applied.
The results will be revealed on January 20.
