(Ecns.cn)--A man named Mr. Ma who lives in Pingzhi of Handan, Hebei Province, has consumed over 10 tons of liquor in the last three decades, and can drink 1.5 kilograms in one day without getting drunk, reported the Yanzhao Metropolis Daily on Wednesday.
Now 65 years old, Ma said he first drank hard liquor at the age of 26 and has been in love with it ever since. Usually he drinks his spirits slowly, yet Ma revealed that he once quaffed a whole bottle in one shot.
Though Ma's family has tried to dry him out, he always find a way around them, claiming he feels uncomfortable from head to toe if he goes too long without drink.
Though clearly an alcoholic, Ma is nevertheless hearty. Zhang, a doctor at the local hospital, speculates that Ma might be better than others at breaking down alcohol. But Ma is a rare case, added the doctor, and overdrinking is still quite harmful to health.
Ma himself often warns others: "Alcohol abuse will cause detrimental effects. Young people should drink as little as possible to avoid accidents."
