(Ecns.cn)--It is generally known that Chinese monks do not eat any meat, but recently an online video posted on Rednet.cn, which shows a monk selecting pork in a supermarket, aroused heated discussion among web users in China, according to reports Saturday.
In the video, the monk who is wearing a frock and beads is selecting pork in a supermarket in Hunan Province. After watching the video some online users said that the monk is a fake, but others "supported" him by joking that though he eats pork, the Buddha is still his spiritual leader.
But actually, "the monk was asked to buy pork for children in a local charity house," said the person who put the video on the Internet.
The Buddhist monk has been a volunteer for the local charity house since 2009. "For several years now he has been participating in activities for our charity house, like taking care of children and senior citizens and going to teach in rural areas," said an employee of the charity house.
The Buddhist, whose name is "Liu Bu Dao Yi," started his monastic life in 1995, and after years of studying the religious doctrine and hard mediation, he began to dedicate himself to helping others.
Although some netizens doubted his intentions, he did not care about that. "I do what I think is right and what the Buddha expects me to do," said the monk.
