(Ecns.cn)—A group of men in east China's Zhejiang Province recently stunned enthusiasts by building a homemade tank using online pictures as reference, according to the Qianjiang Evening News on Friday.
The replica of a Russian T-62 tank has the same length of 9.34 meters with the barrel in forward position and a width of 3.27 meters. However, the replica weighs only 10 tons, 35 tons lighter than the original.
The fake T-62 has a typical tank layout, with the driver's compartment at the front, a fighting compartment in the center and the engine compartment at the rear. Its four-man crew consists of the commander, driver, gunner and loader.
Although the replica is fully equipped with machine guns, they are far less destructive than the original. "They only equal the power of fireworks," said Hao Jinxi, one of the makers of the tank.
He explained that the tank was ordered by a theme park in Inner Mongolia, and cost about 800,000 yuan ($125,117) for seven men to design and build in about seven months. 29 more of the tanks have already been ordered.
